Flag Football Rules

As of 2026, Football Canada has officially transitioned to the full International Federation of American Football (IFAF) rulebook. As a proud member of Football Canada, Football Alberta fully supports this evolution in our game and strongly encourages all leagues across the province to adopt the IFAF rulebook as the universal standard of play for flag football.

Uniting Alberta under the IFAF standard ensures every league operates within a single, cohesive framework. No matter where a team competes in the province, athletes, coaches, and organizers will share the exact same expectations. This unified approach guarantees seamless competition and makes it incredibly easy for teams to travel, play, and elevate the sport together.

Those wanting to view the rulebook in its entirety can download it directly HERE.
