Canada advances to gold medal game at women’s worlds

Langley, BC (June 28, 2017) – Football Canada’s women’s national team will go for gold on June 30 at 7:30 p.m. PT at the 2017 IFAF Women’s World Championship after defeating Great Britain 35-0 on June 27 at McLeod Stadium in Langley, British Columbia.

Canada handed Great Britain their first-ever tournament loss after Great Britain previously defeated two-time defending bronze medalist, Finland, on June 24 in their women’s worlds debut.

The 2017 gold medal game is a rematch of the 2010 and 2013 finals. Canada will look to avenge a pair of gold medal game losses on home soil.

The host nation will be in for a tough task as the US has yet to lose a game at the IFAF Women’s World Championship. So far in Langley, the US defense has yet to allow a single point scored against them at the 2017 tournament.
