Football Alberta Sanctioning Policy

Sanctioning – A Sanctioning Policy and Process starting in January, 2018 to do the following:

Set a process in place for Private Camps and Events to receive Sanctioning from Football Alberta.

A “sanctioned” event would be allowed to use our logo and we would place the event on our webpage and include it in our email, Facebook and Twitter feeds.  Each sanctioning would only be good for one year as these camps and events would have to re-apply every year and be subject to review by Football Alberta.

To Be Sanctioned (Tackle/Contact Football):

To be sanctioned by Football Alberta an organization must:

  • Provide a list of all instructors/coaches/trainers/equipment managers etc. that will be exposed to the athletes and ensure they have the same requirements that they would have to have to coach a tackle/contact team in Alberta.
  • Coaches/Instructors – Safe Contact, Making Ethical Decisions, Making Headway in Football (all determined by providing Football Alberta with these individuals NCCP numbers.)  NOTE: Current CJFL, USport and CFL Players under the supervision of coaches with the above certification are allowed.
  • Trainers – CATA number or subject to Approval by Football Alberta’s Head Athletic Therapist
  • Equipment Manager – Subject to Approval by Football Alberta’s Head Equipment Manager
  • Take out the Football Alberta Insurance ($20/person) on all participants – including the adults in any capacity. This would be over and above anyone who claims to already have insurance with us.  Private or separate claims of insurance coverage would not be accepted.  This ensures everyone at that camp in insured appropriately to Provincial standards.  Exceptions would be events run by the University of Alberta or University of Calgary that can provide an acceptable level of insurance coverage.
  • Provide a description of the activity. Any camp or event with promises of scouting and recruiting to post-secondary institutions for a fee will NOT be eligible for sanctioning.  Any camp or activity that claims to be an Alberta representative team or group will NOT be eligible for sanctioning.  Any camp or activity that promotes an all-star elite competition below the age of 15 will NOT be eligible for sanctioning (as per LTAD direction).

To Be Sanctioned (Non-Contact Football):

To be sanctioned by Football Alberta an organization must:

Provide a list of all instructors/coaches/trainers/equipment managers etc. that will be exposed to the athletes and ensure they have the same requirements that they would have to have to coach a  non-contact team in Alberta.
Coaches/Instructors – Making Ethical Decisions, Making Headway in Football (all determined by providing Football Alberta with these individuals NCCP numbers.)  NOTE: Current CJFL, USport and CFL Players under the supervision of coaches with the above certification are allowed.
Trainers – At least one individual with Athletic First Aid or Basic First Aid with proof of that subject to Approval by Football Alberta’s Head Athletic Therapist
Equipment Manager – Subject to Approval by Football Alberta’s Head Equipment Manager if necessary
Take out the Football Alberta Insurance ($20/person) on all participants – including the adults in any capacity.
Provide a description of the activity.
